Chew Recreation Center, 19th and Washington, Philadelphia, PA By Michael B.Schwartz Assisted by: Jodi Netzer Oshun is a deity coming out of the Yoruba Nigerian tradition. She is a water deity and patron saint of the ODUNDE festival. Participants in the festival offer their blessings to her by tossing fruit, flowers, honey, and money into a body of water. She is known to give babies to barren wombs in that she is the goddess of fertility. During the ceremony honey is passed around to sweeten up everyone's spirit and words.
This mural was designed by the artist. A classroom of 20
students helped inform the design and add their work to the mural
(the small flowers) that represent the students dreams and aspirations.

Mobile Mural project as part of the Season of Nonviolence.
Community members were invited to paint the mobile mural during the annual Tucson Peace Fair held in Reid Park on February 24, 2007. About 45 people of all ages participated throughout the day.
